The third in a series of lectures by Vladimir 518, which map aspects of architectural practice between 1958 and 1989. This time, the main focus of interest will be placed on a very specific topic of this period, which is the relationship between architecture and visual art. You can watch the previous part here: • Vladimir 518: Czech Architecture 58–89 About Architecture 58-89 Architecture 58-89 is a project of a book, a television series and a feature-length documentary film, which deals in depth with the Czech pre-revolutionary architectural scene and is intended to help balance the relationship between it and a wide audience. It should remove prejudices that very often stem only from ignorance of the issue and reveal the strategies of architectural creation in a period when the state was the 100% client, which, however, left everything else, apart from functions and budget, to the professional structure of the state architectural practice, where within the official and controlled structure, much organic, modern and inspiring flourished. In addition to now generally established names such as Karel Hubáček and Miroslav Masák from SIAL in Liberec, Karel Prager, the Machonin couple, or the Šrámek couple, it is time to introduce other creators of this significant period to the wider public, namely Karel Filsak, Zdeněk Kuna, Stanislav France, Václav Hilský, and many others.
