ČSSPT VIVAT HYNKOVÁ gala evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the significant Czech choreographer Libuša Hynková, whose choreographies will be performed by VUS ONDRÁŠ and PLS MLADINA This year (2023) we commemorate the centenary of the birth of the choreographer, teacher and dramaturg Libuša Hynková (1923–2012), who was instrumental in the formation of the folklore movement in the post-war period and in particular in the establishment of the first professional folklore ensemble in Czechoslovakia – the Czechoslovak State Song and Dance Ensemble (ČSSPT), with which she was associated for many years as a choreographer. This professional ensemble, which, despite its contradictory political and social functions of the time, we rank among the significant artistic ensembles working with folk traditions, is no longer found on the folklore scene today. The period after 1990 led first to the organizational transformation of the ensemble and then to the abolition of the entire ensemble as a relic of the previous regime and its propaganda. Despite the complex social upheavals, a number of prominent creative artistic personalities, including many dancers and musicians, were associated with the "statas", as the ensemble was colloquially called. This program is dedicated to them, the main line of which unfolds through the personality of Libuša Hynková and the legacy she left in her extensive choreographic work.
