Vitaly Elagin, Russian yachting champion, instructor and experienced traveler, has circumnavigated the globe on the yacht "Daughter of the Wind". The solo circumnavigation took a little longer than planned. Vitaly began his journey from Gelendzhik in July 2023 and successfully completed it in September 2024, returning to his hometown. The yachtsman's circumnavigation was interrupted in mid-March 2024. He lost contact off the coast of Chile. It later became known that the traveler had technical problems on the yacht and lost contact with the world for several days. Vitaly was able to contact an Argentine ocean rescue vessel on the night of March 27, and transmitted his coordinates, according to which he was near the coast of Argentina. In the port of Mar del Plata, Vitaly was forced to make a stop to repair the yacht's sails and restore the satellite communicator.
