Suruí Neighborhood in Magé, Rio de Janeiro Suruí is a neighborhood in the district of Suruí, in the municipality of Magé, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is the headquarters and the most important neighborhood in the district. The neighborhood is crossed by the Guapimirim branch of SuperVia and the Rio-Teresópolis Highway. Mauá Beach (Magé) Guia de Pacobaíba is also known as Mauá Beach, is the 5th district of the city of Magé. It has an estimated population of 40,000 inhabitants. It is located around 55 kilometers from the capital of Rio de Janeiro. Economy Its main activities are fishing and commerce. Together they employ a large part of the Magé population of this district. History The occupation of the shore of Guanabara Bay, in the municipality of Magé, began with the first land grants that date back to the 16th century. The first main churches of the parishes of Magé, Suruí and Guia de Pacobaíba were built in the mid-17th century. In the 18th century, they were rebuilt, as were their subsidiary chapels, around which streets were grouped. The churches and chapels, built equidistantly, formed a network.
