The Vienna tram is simply a legend among means of transport. Its traffic was launched in 1914 and connected the then Prešporok with Vienna. This tram line was one of the most significant transport innovations of its time, connecting the two metropolises of Austria-Hungary in a modern and efficient way. It should be remembered that the railway transport of that time was dominated by steam. The connection became an important means for the inhabitants of both cities, until 1938, when the operation was interrupted. EXHIBITION 110 YEARS OF THE VIENNA TRAM The exhibition offers visitors a number of authentic historical exhibits. Among the most important are the tram locomotive GANZ POHÉ.V. Eg 6 and the chassis of the freight car GANZ POHÉ.V. Gk 202, which you can see live in the museum. The exhibition also includes various artifacts, documents and models of vehicles that operated on this line. Visitors can also explore information panels that tell in detail stories about the history, technical details and functioning of the Vienna Tram. The curator of the exhibition is Michal Jajcaj. Behind the rescue of the Vienna Tram are Roman Delikát, Michal Milata, Peter Martinko and Vladimír Schwarz, who were also professional collaborators of the exhibition. I pay them a huge compliment that they managed to save this treasure of rail transport from scrapping! Thanks to them, you can see the beautifully renovated tram live. The exhibition can be found at the Museum of Transport on Šancova Street. It is open from October 11, 2024 to September 30, 2025 (Tuesday - Sunday, 10:00-17:00), and is part of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the STM-Museum of Transport in Bratislava.
