Following up on this directive, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming directly inspected the shelter location for residents in Larantuka, East Flores Regency, Thursday, November 14, 2024. The Vice President made this visit after completing a series of activities in Makassar and Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi. Upon arrival in Larantuka, the Vice President immediately visited the evacuation centers. The first location visited was the Konga Field Post in SDK Konga, where he had a direct dialogue with the evacuees to hear their conditions and needs. After that, the Vice President continued his visit to the Kobasoma Field Post in SDK Pukaunu. Accompanied by Minister of Housing and Residential Areas Maruarar Sirait, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Head of BNPB Suharyanto, Acting Governor of NTT Andriko Noto Susanto, and Acting Regent of East Flores Sulastri HI Rasyid, the Vice President took the time to visit the Trauma Healing area for children, gave them toys, and greeted them warmly. One of the refugee children, Gratia from Nawokote Village, expressed her joy in receiving a gift from the Vice President. "I got a lego from the Vice President. Later the lego will be built into a house," she said enthusiastically. Another refugee, Margareta Noba from Nawakote, expressed her gratitude for the safety and comfort while in the refugee camp, but hoped that she could soon be relocated to a safer place. "Thank God we are healthy, safe, there is enough food, and the children can study here. We hope to get a new place soon," she hoped. In addition to the two refugee camps, the Vice President also visited the Lewolaga and Eputobi Field Posts to ensure the readiness of logistics and the comfort of the refugees. Currently, there are 13,649 refugees spread across various evacuation points, including the Konga Field Post (1,748 people), Bokang Wulumatang Post (595 people), Lewolaga Post (2,343 people), Duntana Lewoingu (Eputobi) Post (979 people), Sikka Regency Post (3,429 people), Kobasoma Post (644 people), Ile Gerong Post (350 people), and Mandiri Refugee Post (3,561 people).
