The Ore Mountains have a long tradition of making wooden toys. VERO was created in 1966 through the forced collectivization of countless small family businesses. The VERO wooden toy combine, the center of toy manufacturing in the GDR, did not survive the political changes. But courage and belief in their own skills enabled the craftsmen around Olbernhau to make a fresh start.
