This video lesson provides valuable content about venipuncture. Many nursing students and newly graduated professionals are very insecure about performing the venipuncture procedure. In order to give you more security and confidence when it comes to picking a vein, I present 5 foolproof tips to help you with this procedure. I talk about knowledge of the anatomy of the veins in the upper limbs; positioning the arm for puncture; using a tourniquet for vasodilation; fixing the skin to stabilize the vein and the direction and angle of the needle to perform a good peripheral venipuncture.
