The MiG-31 is a supersonic interceptor fighter created in the mid-1970s. The aircraft is based on the MiG-25 interceptor. While retaining the flight characteristics of the MiG-25, the MiG-31 is capable of flying at speeds of up to 3,000 km/h and is currently the fastest operating aircraft in the world. However, using the MiG-25 base, the MiG-31 has many serious changes in the design and onboard systems, which made it a much more effective combat vehicle, receiving capabilities that were virtually unavailable to anyone at the time of its creation. These same capabilities have allowed the aircraft to remain relevant to this day, with active use with the latest modern aircraft.
