He began studying theology and was ordained a priest in 1954. He devoted himself to researching the Marian apparitions in Medjugorje and Fatima. As a student, he became a public supporter of the events in Medjugorje and Fatima. Gabriel Amorth began to study the life of the stigmatic and mystic St. Father Pius, who died in 1968. He was interested in the life of his contemporary, the fact that Father Pius was attacked by the devil in the form of a black dog in his cell.
