A glimpse into the past with Mr. Giannis. In the village of Kastraki in Etoloakarnania, near Agrinio, we had the opportunity to meet Mr. Yiannis, a 73-year-old resident with many memories from the old days. He told us stories about how people lived back then, describing the poverty and hardships they faced. Mr. Giannis remembers that when he was young, the residents plowed their fields with horses and plows. Schools had strict teachers and children had to be well-educated or face punishment. The main occupation of the inhabitants was animal husbandry and the cultivation of tobacco. Without electricity, people used makeshift lighting at night to see. He described to us how the residents dragged carts full of agricultural products to sell in the street markets. He remembers the milkman who passed by every morning and left the cow's milk in bottles. At school, they celebrated in local costumes made by parents, buying cloth from street vendors. Growing up, Mr. Giannis started working on the hydroelectric dam being built next to his village, first handing out letters to the workers and later working on the photocopiers when the work was completed. Over the years, he had a family and opened his own shop in the town of Agrinio. Now retired, he looks back on the old days, saying they may have been hard and poor, but they were beautiful. He spends his free time on his farm, tending to his animals and trees. The testimony of Mr. John is a living monument of an era that is slowly disappearing. An austere era, full of deprivation, but also rich in values, solidarity and authenticity. An era that reminds us that happiness is not always defined by material goods, but by the simplicity of life and love. #ιστορίεσζωήσ #παραδόση #greekvillagelife #χοριό #villagelife #tradition ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ????⚠️It is prohibited to download, modify and use excerpts or full videos for any reason.
