A large-scale protest took place in the center of Tbilisi, near the parliament building on Rustaveli Avenue, on the evening of October 28. Participants, including the country's president Salome Zurabishvili, demand that the results of the parliamentary elections held on Saturday be declared invalid. Journalist Vladimir Romensky went live on the "Vozdukh" program from the center of Tbilisi. According to the Central Election Commission, the ruling party "Georgian Dream" won the parliamentary elections in Georgia on October 26, gaining about 54% of the vote. "Georgian Dream" is considered a pro-Russian party and recently passed two repressive bills that are carbon copies of Russian laws: on "foreign agents" and a ban on LGBT propaganda. The other four parties that also made it into parliament (all opposition parties) did not recognize the election results and call them falsified. Independent election experts point to signs of falsifications that were noticeable when analyzing the voting results at individual polling stations. UPDATE. The protest ended at around 9:00 pm Moscow time. Opposition representatives voiced a demand to hold repeat elections under the control of an independent international electoral administration.
