Transportation, security, housing, sanitation, leisure, communication, employment, health, culture, beauty, nature. There are many factors that contribute to the quality of life in cities, and the list goes on. How can we develop and balance all of these factors, especially in a large metropolis like São Paulo, in a scenario of economic crisis, growing urbanization and an ongoing digital technological revolution? Where are our cities headed and what are the major decisions that need to be made in this regard? We invited Raquel Rolnik, architect and urban planner, associate professor and head of the Department of Design at the School of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU-USP), to speak on the subject.
