Germany's largest refugee reception centre is located in the mothballed Berlin Tegel Airport. It accommodates 5,000 people, with almost 2,000 places still available. But the conditions are criticised by residents. Each room is shared by 16 people, so there is no privacy. Cooking is also not allowed, for fire safety reasons. It is also very noisy, which affects the already tense nerves of the refugees, who also complain about poor hygiene in the emergency housing. The Berlin State Office for Refugees acknowledges the difficulty of the situation - they are doing everything they can. And they will probably soon face the problem of accommodating even more refugees - from Ukraine and Lebanon.
