UKRAINE WAR: Significant losses in 2024 - Can Kiev's troops recover next year? According to Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin, the Russian armed forces have so far captured 189 locations in the neighboring country in their war against Ukraine this year. "The Russian armed forces are firmly in possession of the strategic initiative along the entire contact line," Putin said in Moscow at a meeting of the Defense Ministry. Minister Andrei Belousov said that a total area of ​​4,500 square kilometers in Ukraine had been conquered.
