The construction was carried out during the reign of Prince Matei Basarab (1632-1654), being linked to the two Nasturel brothers: the scholar Oreste or Udriște Năsturel (1596-1659) and Cazan Postelnicul Năsturel. Built entirely of stone, the building bears the name of Udriște Năsturel – a great scholar, poet and translator in Wallachia and the most important advisor to Prince Matei Basarab, his brother-in-law. Heritage specialists bring it back to life. Walks in Romania
