The event was organized by Istanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Business Administration. #UfukAkçigit Speaker: Prof. Dr. Ufuk Akçigit, University of Chicago Prof. Dr. Ufuk Akçigit is a faculty member in the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago and holds the Arnold C. Harberger Chair. He is also a senior research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER, Boston), the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR, London), and the Center for Economic Research (IFO, Munich), and a distinguished research fellow and member of the board of trustees at Koç University. Prof. Dr. Akçigit is an associate editor of the Journal of Economic Growth and previously served as an associate editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association. Prof. Dr. Akçigit's research focuses on economic growth, technological creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, productivity, and firm dynamics. His research has been published in the world's leading academic economics journals including the Journal of Political Economy, Econometrica, Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Review, and Review of Economic Studies. His works have been cited in respected international press outlets such as The Economist, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Telegraph, The Atlantic, Harvard Business Review as well as in policy reports of the OECD, World Bank, and IMF. Prof. Dr. Akçiğit has provided consultancy services to the IMF, OECD, Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, and the Danish Ministry of Science and Education, and currently serves as a consultant to the World Bank and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. The recipient of numerous international awards, Prof. Dr. Akçiğit is the recipient of the NSF CAREER Award, the most prestigious award given to young academics by the American National Science Foundation, the Max Plank-Humboldt Research Award, one of the most valuable awards of the German Federal Government, the prestigious Guggenheim Award of the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the Global Economy Award of the Kiel Institute, and the International Sakıp Sabancı Research Award of Sabancı University.
