Educational video for children in which they will learn about spelling, the accentuation rules of acute, flat, and proparoxytone words and when they have an accent mark, and finally they will see what the diacritic accent is. Acute words are those that have the stressed syllable in the last position. Therefore, the accent, that is, the force given to the voice, falls on that last syllable. Acute words have an accent mark when they end in a vowel, on the letter n, not on the letter s. Flat words are those that have the stressed syllable in the penultimate position. Therefore, they are those words in which the accent, or the force given to the voice, falls on that penultimate syllable. Flat words only have an accent mark when they do NOT end in a vowel, the letter n, or the letter s. Esdrújula words are those that have the stressed syllable in the third-to-last position. Therefore, the stress, or the force given to the voice, falls on that third-to-last syllable. The only rule you must learn in relation to proparoxytones is that they ALWAYS have an accent on their third-to-last syllable. Lastly, the diacritic accent is related to monosyllabic words. Monosyllabic words are those that only have one syllable, such as pan, luz, sol or voz, and according to the general rules of accentuation, we know that monosyllabic words do not have an accent. However, there are some exceptions. There are monosyllabic words that are written the same as others but have a different meaning and pronunciation. Therefore, in order for us to be able to differentiate them, what is known as a diacritic accent arises. This graphic accent is what allows us to distinguish words that are written the same but have a different meaning. This video is a very useful and interesting resource for children.
