Its facilities have been preserved since its construction, such as the main house, the chapel of São Gonçalo, and the old flour mill, which date back to 1780, the height of the colonial period in the Northeast. The Marrecas mill in Maragogi is an example to be followed due to the grandeur of the main house combined with the good architectural taste of the details of the beautiful mill, which is in excellent condition. Its exquisite and original architecture is a source of admiration for those who glimpse the manor house from the elevation on which it is located, particularly in its frontal image, highlighting the unusual model of the veranda, semi-enclosed with central arches molded sculpturally, side arches in a different model and the stone access staircase, with the pilasters that flank it worked with designs and topped with ceramic pine cones. The interiors of the manor house, whose contents include the best in terms of period furniture, worthy of a powerful and influential sugar mill owner. In 1817, Nicolau Paes Sarmento, captain-general of the Royal Town of Porto das Pedras, mentioned Antonio de Holanda Cavalcanti as the owner of the Marrecas sugar mill. However, it is to be presumed that it was an earlier construction, still from the 18th century, revealed in the materials used in it, such as sandstone stones, hand-made bricks and loose clay. The mill belonged to the Holanda Cavalcanti clan until the present day, when it passed to its current owners, who have preserved it in such an admirable manner that it has served as a stage for television soap operas and a backdrop for films.
