On July 12th and 13th I visited the beautiful city of Rostock on the Baltic Sea and took some impressions of the Rostock tram. I could have taken many more photos, but unfortunately I didn't have the time. Five videos were created, from the edge of the city to the city center: Mecklenburger Allee to Doberaner Platz (lines 1, 4, 5) ( • Rostock tram - Mecklenburger A... ) New cemetery to Doberaner Platz (lines 2 and 6) ( • Rostock tram - New cemetery ... ) South view to the main station (lines 2, 5 and 6) ( • Rostock tram - South view to Ha... ) City center (lines 1, 2, 5 and 6) ( • Rostock tram - City center (Lin... ) Hafenallee, Dierkower Kreuz, city harbor to Steintor (lines 1, 2, 3 and 4) ( • Rostock tram - Hafenallee, Die... ) All videos of the Rostock tram in the playlist • Rostock tram Regular operation of a horse-drawn tram began on three lines in 1881 in the Hanseatic city of Rostock, after the Mecklenburgische Straßen-Eisenbahn Aktien-Gesellschaft (MSEAG) was founded due to the growing need for transport. On a route length of around Today, six lines run along 86 km. The tram has only been running through Lange Straße since 1961, rather than through the old town. Line 1 to Lichtenhagen was only extended beyond Marienehe in 2003. The direct connection from Doberaner Platz to the main station via Schröderplatz was inaugurated in 2006. The routes to the Mensa and Südblick were opened in 2003. The network includes a tunnel station under the main station, which was built in 2000 along with the ramps leading to it. The Rostock tram line service uses Tatra T6A2m cars, high-floor one-way cars with low-floor trailers of the type 4NBWE (Bombardier). The main type used is modern 6NGTWDE cars made by DUEWAG. This ensures barrier-free access throughout the network. All trains are one-way cars. Each terminus is designed as a loop.
