COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY A DUST AVALANCHE IN SPRING 2019, THE TOTALPHÜTTE HAS BEEN SHINING IN NEW GLORY SINCE JULY 2020. The Totalphütte was rebuilt in record time, sometimes under adverse conditions. The construction site at an altitude of 2,385 meters in alpine terrain posed a number of challenges for man and machine. The workers braved the storms in the high mountains and managed to rebuild the hut in just a few months. The film production company Medienzoo, together with project partners Alpenverein Vorarlberg, Fussenegger Holzbau, Denkfabrik Liechtenstein, Zech Kies and the Kieber carpentry shop, documented the construction of the Totalphütte in a documentary. “The high-altitude construction site was a unique project for us. The coordination of the filming and the speed at which the work was carried out were challenging. Such documentation can only succeed if everyone sticks together.” Mathias Kasseroler, Managing Director of Medienzoo Gmbh “The reconstruction of the Totalphütte was an enormous challenge for the Vorarlberg Alpine Association and the specialist companies involved. With combined forces, an innovative new building for the hut was built within a very short time. On August 29th, we can now ceremoniously open the hut as an important alpine base in the heart of the Rätikon.” Rainer Schlattinger, Managing Director of the Vorarlberg Alpine Association
