Today, it is in the company of Denis Roland, historian and author, that Éric Perrin invites you to Rochefort, in Charente-Maritime. Denis Roland, Rochefortais by adoption, is without a doubt one of the finest connoisseurs of the history of this city with an extraordinary destiny. He takes us to must-see places like the Corderie Royale or the famous Place Colbert, made famous by Jacques Demy's film "Les demoiselles de Rochefort". But Denis Roland will also make us discover his favorites like the Clos Lapérouse or "Les petites allées", a publishing house that is also a typographic printing house. Eric Perrin pushes open the doors of a unique and very surprising place in France, a site of the National Maritime Museum dedicated to the first school of naval and tropical medicine in the world which trained surgeons embarked on ships for more than 250 years. During a detour in Charente-Maritime, we will try to understand how Rochefort, a city located 20 kilometers from the ocean, is constantly inventing a maritime destiny for itself!
