Radar: https://kachelmannwetter.com/de/regen... On May 11, 2021, there was an interesting setup. Dynamics and Cape values 1000 j/kg. This weather situation ensured that virtually the entire German chasing scene arrived in Saxony in the afternoon. This time there were four of us on the road. However, thanks to Corona, in separate vehicles. Car 1: Jascha and buddy Daniel Car 2: Torben and Sebastia Car 3: Vince When we were near Leipzig at around 3:30 p.m., the first cells triggered! The chasing began. The first storms near Plauen (Saxony) brought not only lightning and thunder, but also heavy rain and small-grained hail. However, these thunderstorms were still a good 80 km away from us. We therefore decided to head southwest. A supercell formed from the thunderstorm cluster. We drove towards it. In recent years we have always had good luck in East Germany / Saxony etc. Today things were going to be more difficult. Before we could reach the cell just south of Altenburg, it died. So we quickly headed northeast again to intercept another cell north of Chemnitz. We were finally able to reach the supercell. Unfortunately, the structures in the hazy air were not particularly pronounced, and new triggers also caused rain. The system then moved quickly north. At least we were able to photograph a few more lightning bolts south of Luckenwalde. All in all, we had hoped for a lot more structures. But the season is just beginning!
