He and his brother Mitth'ras'safis were brought up as average commoners. However, they later joined the Chiss Extended Defense Force. Later, on merit, Thrawn was adopted into one of the 8 Ruling Families. In the case of the Chiss race, the persons who reached a more serious military rank were, so to speak, accepted into the larger ruling families in order to expand the family through adoptions. On the other hand, if the officer left the army, his acceptance becomes null and void, and these persons are no longer part of the families. The Chiss traditions are strange... But I will definitely deal with them in a video about the race. Returning to Thrawn, who had great military acumen, he proved his abilities and soon reached the rank of Commander. He became the youngest Chiss ever to achieve the rank of Commander. This impressed the ruling families so much that they ensured at the beginning of his career that he could become a part of the family. It would be a bit complicated to explain this in detail, and maybe this is not my goal today. The point is that the society of the Chiss race has a very special structure. Because of his work, in addition to his mother tongue Cheunh, he also spoke the Sy Bisti and Minniast languages ​​excellently, which were considered quite widespread in the unknown regions. As a commander, many events and merits were attached to his name. He was the first Chiss to interact with humans. One of these men was a Corellian smuggler named Jorj Car'das. Thanks to these people, Thrawn learned roughly Galactic Basic pretty quickly. Which language, in the world of Star Wars, was considered a kind of basic language in the galaxy. But beyond that, he also learned about the Jedi and the Droids, which until now were almost unknown to the Chiss race. Furthermore, it is because of the humans that we know Mitth'raw'nuruodo as Thrawn, as this middle part of his name was much easier to pronounce for those who did not know the Chiss language. Roughly 5 years before the Clone Wars, Thrawn made contact with a fleet belonging to a minor trade alliance led by Kinman Doriana. His task, as Palpatine's agent, was to destroy a ship called Outbound Flight and its entire entourage. This ship was on a mission to explore the unknown regions and reach the hitherto unknown edge of the galaxy. Also, of course, to make contact with possible sentient beings living beyond the galaxy. Palpatine's purpose in destroying the Outbound Flight was to prevent it from being discovered by the Yuuzhan Vong. If the threat there were revealed, chaos would reign in the known worlds and preparation for an enemy invasion would become impossible. But otherwise, there were at least 20 Jedi traveling on the explorer ship, so it would have been worth destroying the research just for that reason... After Thrawn confronted the trade alliance fleet, he transferred to the enemy flagship and confronted Kinman. He then explained to Thrawn the details of his mission and his task. He also told her that the Jedi on the ship could pose a terrible threat to the unknown regions and the Chiss race. Have fun.
