Car theft is a silent scourge that affects tens of thousands of people every year. Brands often leave large holes, cars from the extinct VAG group (now VW, for short) are a good example of this; that is why there are solutions from manufacturers, but also from after-sales companies, such as control units for Volkswagen that try to alleviate these defects. There are some car brands that are very sensitive to theft in Spain. Those from the Volkswagen group (Skoda, Seat, Audi and VW itself), or BMW and, in general, the premium ones, in this case in thefts by order, which are especially sensitive to theft. Thieves seek a balance between the economic interest/profit of the car and the ease of stealing it. There are also cars, the more expensive the more sensitive, that are absolutely targeted by thieves; among them, the Toyota Land Cruiser stands out. Whatever the reason for our car being stolen (for parts, to use it for criminal purposes such as carjackings, or to sell it clandestinely in another country), the truth is that traditional practices have become much more sophisticated, and in most cases today securing a car involves acting on the electronic part, which is where thieves sneak in to take it, in many cases, without even having the keys. In this video I tell you the keys to how our cars are stolen, and also the most common techniques to protect them against these modus operandi, blocking the thief's ability, or at least, making the possibility of theft much more difficult by adding a level of operation time and complexity that makes them give up on the attempt.
