(Audio-video correction subtitle version) Dharma video provided by: Monk Bonjeong Recording of dharma: Juan Handongil The way to escape reincarnation, Samjang Jamin and yeonbul meditation Even if we reflect on just our daily lives, there are very few people who have spent the day without ever feeling irritated or becoming enlightened. Where does that come from? It is because we think that in this life, only what we see with our eyes is real, and what we cannot see is not real but rather a void. Or it is because of the power of karma we committed not only in this life but also in our past lives. The so-called karma (羯磨, karma), karma (業), is called karma in Indian language. All of us sentient beings are currently limited by karma. We are now tightly bound by the shackles of karma. Only the teachings of Buddha clearly know the three cycles of reincarnation. Our lives are born and die through the past, present, and future. We Buddhists have great resources in this regard. Buddhism is the dharma that sees life as it is and speaks of it as it is. As I said earlier, we clearly existed in the past, are alive in this life, and will exist in the next life. However, if we just do this kind of birth and death, it cannot be Buddhism. It is one of the basic principles of Buddhism, and the true principle is that we leave the cycle of birth and death. It is to overcome it. We do not meditate and chant in order to live better in this life, to go to heaven in the next life, and to be born as a human again, to be better, smarter, more talented, and more like this. The basic and fundamental principle is, as I said earlier, that we overcome reincarnation. We escape the bonds of karma. Meditate and chant in order to direct our minds toward our original state of mind and nature, step by step. We yearn for the Buddha, and that longing for the Buddha is very important. Meditate and chant in order to be Buddha is absolutely not two. The reason why they are not two is because we are originally Buddhas, but aren’t we becoming Buddhas now? The important thing is to become a Buddha, not what method you use. That kind of methodological issue is not important. Even if you chant, you don't just call the name in the Japanese way. All life is one life. Buddha is a true, brilliant and splendid light that governs the entire universe. Therefore, I hope you will chant while imagining the light that fills the universe and making the image stand out. ▶ Smartphone app: Buddha's words and sermons by Great Monk Cheonghwa and Namu Amitabha Buddha chanting https://play.google.com/store/apps/de... ▶ Muju Seonwon, the home of the heart with Amitabha Buddha https://cafe.daum.net/mujuseonwon
