Mountain tourist village, belonging to the historic province of Faucigny and to the current community of communes Pays du Mont-Blanc. Traditionally focused on cereal farming, the village has been oriented towards summer tourism since the 1920s. Already in the 19th century, Victor Hugo described the village as "the pearl of the Alps in its setting of glaciers". During the 1930s, winter sports developed, giving rise to the ski resort and linked to the large Évasion Mont-Blanc area. Today, we tend to use the promotional expression "Combloux 360°" to designate this resort in the Pays du Mont-Blanc, due to a panorama of the surrounding massifs (Mont-Blanc Massif, Aravis Massif, Chaine des Fiz, Aiguilles Rouges Massif, ...). It has obtained the "tourist commune" label.
