Last Thursday, February 15, employees of the Technical Support Management Department of the State Police monitored road traffic safety using an unmanned aerial vehicle. Traffic monitoring with a drone was carried out in Riga, in the Jugla microdistrict, where a total of 13 violations of road traffic rules were recorded in a short period of time. On the morning of February 15, State Police officers monitored traffic safety and compliance with general traffic rules in Riga, at the intersection of Brīvības Street, where they recorded a total of 13 violations of traffic rules. Of which ten drivers drove aggressively – ignoring the interests of other road users and causing disturbances to the smooth flow of vehicles, performed a right turn maneuver from the lane intended for driving straight or to the left. Fixed drivers were stopped and prosecuted for aggressive driving. We remind you that for aggressive driving, a fine of 70 to 280 euros and six penalty points is provided for the driver. Also, police officers recorded two drivers who crossed the intersection at the moment when the red prohibitive light signal was on. These violators of traffic rules were also stopped and brought to administrative responsibility - for driving when the prohibitory signal is on at the traffic light, a fine of six to twenty-eight fine units is applied, which is from 30 to 140 euros. On the other hand, the police found an anti-radar in the vehicle of one driver, which was removed and the driver was brought to administrative responsibility for driving a vehicle equipped with a device (anti-radar, etc.) that can receive the signals sent by speed control measuring devices or cause disturbances in the operation of these measuring devices, and for such a violation, a fine of 55 euros is applied to the driver of the vehicle.
