The Spanish postwar period was a period of profound economic crisis in which Spain did not recover until 1952 from the economic levels it enjoyed until 1935, before the Civil War. Autarchy had devastating effects and with the black market a new class was born: the black marketeers. In addition, the population suffered a lot of hunger, the Maquis appeared, who continued to fight the dictatorial regime. Millions of Spaniards had to go into exile fleeing Franco, many of them from the intellectual movement: writers, journalists, painters, sculptors, university professors... The country was devastated, society divided, the people were silent, living in absolute poverty, slaves of the fields, the sea, the mines, among the thousands of dead left by hunger.
