Some of the world’s biggest car manufacturers are working on technology that could help save the internal combustion engine! From Porsche to Toyota and even Ferrari, several manufacturers are exploring new ways to ensure that the internal combustion engine doesn’t die out as more regulations are introduced in the next few years. But what kind of technology are they working on? Well, one of the most exciting innovations comes from Porsche, as patents for an all-new 6-stroke petrol engine have been discovered! The patents are full of technical details, but it looks like this all-new design will help to dramatically increase power with two power jumps for every three revolutions. With that in mind, not only does power increase, but it also means emissions are reduced at the same time. But that’s not all, both Ferrari and Toyota have revealed patents and teased technology that uses hydrogen fuel. For example, the patents reveal that Ferrari is working on a supercar that would feature a hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine! Of course, development is still in its early stages, but hydrogen fuel has huge advantages, mainly because no carbon dioxide is emitted from the car at all, so it’s a real breakthrough when it comes to reducing emissions! The only problem is that you might have a hard time finding a place to fill up, if the modern grid is anything to go by… But what do you think – could Porsche’s new patents help save the combustion engine? Let us know in the comments!
