The Via Silente is a circular route of about 600 km that follows the coastal stretches of Cilento and then enters the mountains of one of the largest National Parks in Italy: the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park. The route begins in Castelnuovo Cilento, a few kilometers from the Vallo della Lucania railway station. It is a proposal for a cycle trip of extraordinary beauty in a still uncontaminated territory with an almost total absence of traffic. The original route, a loop, includes 15 stages but if you have good legs capable of digesting 13,000 meters of altitude difference it can be completed in about ten days. Noteworthy is the optional climb that leads to Mount Gelbison at 1700 meters above sea level where the ancient sanctuary of the Madonna di Monte Sacro is located. Sincerely beautiful and studied in the smallest details. For more information you can go to the info point of the route a few kilometers from the train station.
