In 2014, she and her friends attended a festival. They decided to have a barbecue together on the festival grounds. To ignite the coals more quickly, a friend poured spirit onto the embers. A huge jet of flame was created, the fire spread, and suddenly the then 18-year-old was on fire for several minutes. With third-degree burns on her hand, stomach and legs, she is flown by helicopter to the nearest hospital. Her condition: The wounds are life-threatening! She is put into an artificial coma. Numerous operations, skin transplants, isolation in the hospital and rehabilitation measures determine her life. And the certainty: She will never look the same as before the serious fire accident. But Annika is a fighter and accepts the healing process. She can deal better with the scars on her body and, as a physiotherapist, has specialized in burn victims.
