© ARFT, TVR 2014 The revelations in this documentary shed new light on the most controversial issue of recent Romanian history. A taboo subject for Romanians for a long time, during the communist period and even after 1989, the documentary revisits the history of the Romanian treasury, with the Romanian-Soviet and Romanian-Russian bilateral relations in the background, as well as the Bessarabian issue. It is the first TV documentary produced on this topic, with testimonies from all parties involved. Presidents of state, diplomats, politicians, historians from Romania, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova appear, in a complete overview of all parties involved. Romania is the only ex-communist country that has not yet been visited by a president of the Russian Federation. Bilateral relations have always been equivocal, the Treasury and Bessarabia issues being, from 1917 to the present day, sources of dissension. For the first time, in this documentary, members of the Russian side of the Joint Commission of Historians, the Governor of the National Bank - Mugur Isărescu, the President of the Republic of Moldova - Nicolae Timofti, Traian Băsescu, Vladimir Putin, Mircea Druc, Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej, Nicolae Ceauşescu appear. Documents from the National Archives, objects from the treasury unknown to the public, information from the archives in Moscow, London, Washington, Chişinău are revealed. The documentary is directed by Marian Voicu, with the contribution of Liviu Iurea, TVR correspondent in Moscow.
