The story of the work that allowed the fresco of the “Madonna Enthroned with Child, Angels and Saint Francis” by Cimabue, also known as the “Maestà of Assisi”, to return to its ancient splendor fifty years after the last intervention. With the recently completed conservation project it was possible to analyze in detail the techniques and materials used to create the fresco, thus trying to enhance the original contribution of the artist.
