https://www.raiplay.it/programmi/report - By Luca Bertazzoni from Report of 29/11/2021. On May 31, the Court of Assizes of Taranto sentenced the 47 defendants in the Ambiente Svenduto trial to 300 years in prison in the first instance. For the magistrates, from 1995 to 2012 it was an environmental disaster. What has changed today with the new ownership and the entry of the State compared to the times when the steelworks were managed by the Riva family? Through a journey through the city of Taranto, Report tells the story of the contamination of a polluted territory, with the ban on grazing within a 20-kilometer radius of the former Ilva plant and the illegal cultivation of mussels in the first inlet of the Mar Piccolo. A series of unpublished videos collected by workers inside the plant shows the current working conditions of the largest steelworks in Europe. Report's cameras then move to the Ruhr, once one of the most polluted regions in Germany, which for years has been on a path of reconversion and redevelopment of the old steelworks.
