Vera Gheno makes us reflect on how we are the only living beings to possess the capacity for language, but we often do not realize this capacity. With words we represent reality and with words we can caress and hurt, convince and reject. She will push us to love our language again and to rediscover the power of using the right words. Vera Gheno is a sociolinguist and has been working on computer-mediated communication for twenty years. She teaches at the University of Florence and holds courses on the ethics of communication in schools, companies and university master's degrees. She manages the Twitter profile of the Accademia della Crusca and collaborates with Zanichelli on issues of language and education in new media. She translates literature from Hungarian to Italian. She is the author of two books: “A Practical Guide to Written Italian (Without Becoming a Grammarnazi)” and “Social-linguistics. Italian and Italians on Social Networks”.
