The Patient Experience with Prosthesis Cavalcast - Instituto Cavalcanti with Dr. Marco Túlio Cavalcanti - Urologist and Andrologist (CRM: 136030 – RQE: 56669) Penile prosthesis implantation is a surgery performed to implant prostheses within the corpora cavernosa of the penis, which will provide a rigid and quality erection for sexual intercourse. According to the Brazilian Society of Urology, penile prosthesis implantation is only indicated when more conservative treatments have not produced the expected results. According to Dr. Marco Túlio Cavalcanti, urologist and andrologist, specialist in penile prosthesis implantation procedures, the procedure is safe and efficient, with a high satisfaction rate. Recovery is fast, with an average hospital stay of between 12h and 24h, and return to normal routine (work and studies) after 48h, but physical activities must be suspended for one month for complete recovery. Return to sexual activities may occur 4 to 6 weeks after surgery, depending on each case and medical advice. The procedure does not cause any changes to libido (sexual desire), ejaculation, orgasms or urinary flow. The implant of the prosthesis is completely internal, leaving nothing exposed on the outside. During the procedure, no tissue is removed from the patient; the cylinders of the prosthesis occupy the space that was previously filled by the patient's blood during his erections.
