[About Tsuchizawa Kagura] Hayachine Daimana-ryu Tsuchizawa Kagura is a kagura dedicated to Kabura Hachiman Shrine, the guardian deity of the Tsuchizawa district in Towa-cho, Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture. It is a kagura that descends from Hayachine Daimana-ryu Kagura, and although records are unknown, some of the dance props are said to have been made during the Tenpo and Koka eras (1830-1848). [About this video] Hayachine Take-ryu Ishihatooka Kagura and Hayachine Daimana-ryu Tsuchizawa Kagura were selected by the government as "intangible folk cultural properties for which measures such as record creation should be taken" on March 9, 2011. This is based on the Cultural Properties Protection Act, in which the Commissioner of the Agency for Cultural Affairs selects intangible folk cultural properties other than those designated by the government as important intangible folk cultural properties that are particularly in need of recognition, and the selected cultural properties will be investigated, records created, and made public. Hanamaki City Board of Education has created this video to promote the recording of both Kagura and ensure reliable archiving, as well as to popularize both Kagura and increase understanding of Kagura.
