Many years ago I had a Teacher who told me that the Art of Happiness was in achieving goals, but not at the expense of others, without being based on the unhappiness of others; and in a certain way the Art of Overcoming consists of being able to reach our goals without using others as stepping stones, without climbing on the heads of the weak, without trampling on those who are apparently blocking our way, but in a very different way, with all our heart and all our strength. What is this difficult or mysterious Art of Overcoming? ... Professor JORGE ÁNGEL LIVRAGA RIZZI was born in Buenos Aires in 1930. He studied Medicine, Art History and Philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires in his youth. From a young age he felt a deep philosophical concern and developed a great poetic sensitivity. In 1951 he won the National Poetry Prize in Argentina with his book Lotos. In 1957 his pedagogical vocation led him to found the Cultural Association Nueva Acrópolis, with the aim of promoting comparative study among all the arts, sciences, religions and philosophies, fostering philosophical self-knowledge in human beings and promoting universal brotherhood among men. In a short time, this Association acquired an international character, which led to an intense activity of courses, classes, conferences and constant trips until his death, which occurred in 1991.
