One of the most spectacular treetop paths in Germany: The Hainich National Park is located at the gates of the idyllic town of Bad Langensalza. And here, between the treetops, the treetop path winds its way up to 40 meters high. Have you ever been to Bad Langensalza? If so, do you have any other tips for excursions in the surrounding area? Feel free to write us your experiences and recommendations in the comments! Here you can find other top sights in Bad Langensalza: https://homeoftravel.de/top-sehenswur... Let's start in the historic old town. Bad Langensalza has existed for more than 1,000 years and we walk past old, quaint half-timbered houses and impressive walls such as the town hall and the remains of the city wall. Numerous cafes and restaurants await us on the right and left. Our holiday apartment is also right in the middle of the old town. The apartment is super big, super bright and very comfortably furnished. We have two large bedrooms, a huge living room and a fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom is also great and the location of the apartment is unbeatable. There are two beautiful gardens not far from the old town. There is the rose garden with over 450 different types of roses and the Japanese garden, which takes you to the Far East. Pavilions stand behind a large pond, bonsais compete to grow and koi frolic in the water. There is even a Japanese greenhouse with bamboo bushes and huge banana plants. Super beautiful! Then it's finally time to get out into nature. The national park is about 20 minutes (by car or bus) from Bad Langensalza. We stroll through a primeval forest. The Hainich National Park is the only national park in Thuringia and the largest contiguous mixed forest in Germany. Some of the trees here are very old. One oak tree is 350 years old and now has a trunk circumference of almost 6 meters. Gigantic! The whole forest radiates a sense of calm and I enjoy walking through the wild landscape, taking in the different shades of green and listening to the birds singing. Sometimes there are wooden walkways that you can walk over. Here you can switch off and find relaxation. Then we climb the treetop path. We reach the first walkways via a spiral staircase and then it goes steadily uphill to a height of up to 40 meters. We stroll directly under and then over the treetops and thus get close to nature in a different way. From above we have a sensational view and for the first time we really see how huge the national park is. On the horizon we can also see as far as the Thuringian Forest and the Harz Mountains. Bad Langensalza itself can also be seen from up here. After the treetop path has closed and all the visitors have left, we have arranged to meet Christiane. She offers yoga classes between the treetops. So up here I spread out my mat and embark on a relaxing journey to myself. Afterwards there is a sound massage. That feels good! Then we also have a tip for you where to stop off. We're going to the Unstrut. On this idyllic river is the so-called Lohmühle, an old mill with a large mill wheel and a beautiful half-timbered house. Right next door is the Unstrut hut. It is also right on the water. We take a seat and I look forward to a delicious Thuringian grilled sausage. If you're already in Thuringia, a bratwurst like this is a must. For me there is bratwurst with chips and for Felix bratwurst with potato salad. And we eat right on the water with a view of the Unstrut. Finally we go to the Friederiken thermal baths. We end the day in the warm brine baths. After about 10-15 minutes of brine bathing there is a 10-minute break. We also take a look at the new sauna world.
