This video focuses on the international causes of the Restoration, addressing the conflict between the increasing pressures of Western imperialism and Japan's policy of remaining closed. The technological superiority of the West and the necessity of being included in global trade networks led Japan to rapidly modernize. In economic terms, the feudal structure was replaced by industrialization and a centralized state system, laying the foundations that prepared Japan to become the economic giant of Asia.
