It was supposed to be a show and a show it was. With all due respect to Jupiter Pluvius, despite the threatening whims and some annoying intermittent rain. After six years, the wait was truly electric. The 2020 and 2022 editions (the event is held every two years) did not take place due to Covid and it was therefore normal to expect a parade in the midst of an immense crowd, literally enraptured by the beauty of the floats set up in the districts and featuring ancient Recoaro customs, habits, traditions and crafts. In truth, however, from the early hours of the morning the town seemed to have been catapulted back several decades, in a fascinating and festive atmosphere that continued until the evening, when the straw man was set on fire, symbolizing the long-awaited farewell to winter and welcome to spring. Recoaro has about 6,000 inhabitants. Of these, more than half were certainly involved in building the floats, accompanied by almost 2,000 extras. A small army, in essence, made up of people in love with their land and their culture, showing a physical and emotional involvement that in my opinion is difficult to find in other areas. And this is also what makes the Chiamata di Marzo in Recoaro Terme unique and beautiful, because when you arrive here, in addition to being enchanted by the attention to detail and the historical research that underlies the thematic reconstructions, what strikes you is a truly important, contagious and intense sense of community. This is also why the video you will see here was made with ambient audio, because I wanted to capture the live emotions of the parade, with the sounds, the music, the jokes, the desire to party.
