※ This video is an edited and reprocessed video of <Documentary Prime - The Disappearance of Humans Part 1 ~ 2> that aired on November 28, 2016. Part 1 Extinction There were countless humans before modern humans. They all disappeared, and only we were left alone. To meet the harsh lives of humans who adapted to extreme environments, we go to the era of Homo heidelbergensis, Paranthropus boisei, and Neanderthals. ① The beginning of humanity. Homo heidelbergensis (aka 'Goliath'), a large creature, grew in size to cope with the dangerous environment full of wild beasts. It lived in groups, protected itself from predators, and also performed rituals to remember the dead. We reenact the difficult lives of these people who developed high-level thinking but disappeared into the back alleys of history. ② Another struggle for survival. There was Paranthropus boisei, called the 'Nutcracker Man' because of its molars that were four times larger than ours. They had to chew food for a considerable amount of time while awake to sustain their bodies on a meager plant-based diet, so they developed a stomach rather than a brain. We will delve into the life of this 'Nutcracker Man' who was ultimately defeated by humans who evolved a brain. ③ Blossoming language and culture. Neanderthals who lived during the Ice Age showed more human characteristics such as language and funeral rituals and overcame the harsh environment. Despite this, they disappeared. We will look back on the story of the last survivor. Almost all humans have gone extinct. Can we be an exception? The story of the extinct humans and our current survival is fierce. Part 2 Survival What are the conditions for humans to be human? To solve that mystery, we will meet Homo floresiensis and Ardipithecus ramidus, survivors who are now extinct but were truly extraordinary. ① Rewriting the definition of humanity. Homo floresiensis, called 'hobbits' because of their small stature, are very small, only about 1 meter tall. They are believed to have lived with us on the remote island of Flores in Indonesia until just 12,000 years ago. They used tools and hunted, even though their brains were only the size of an orange. The discovery of 'hobbits' has shown us that the genealogy and evolutionary history of humans that we knew was only a small part. ② Advancing into the unknown, bipedalism. Ardipithecus ramidus, who built nests in trees and reminded us of 'Tarzan', was a human who lived 4 million years ago. Its appearance was more similar to a chimpanzee than a human, and its brain capacity was 500 cc, not much different from that of apes. One day, they came down from their tree nests, where they were safe from predators, to the ground and began walking on two feet. That step was a huge first step in human history. ✔ Program name: Documentary Prime - The Lost Human Race Part 1 ~ 2 ✔ Broadcast date: 2016.11.28 #TVCholladaeDocumentary #DocumentaryPrime #Humanity #Human #Extinction #Survival #Earth #Primitive #HomoSapiens
