In the Caucasus, on the Javakheti plateau, at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, several Dukhobor villages flourished until recently. Today, this community is on the verge of extinction. Leo Tolstoy took an active part in preserving the Dukhobor community more than a hundred years ago, and in 1991, the Russian government saved it. Today, the adherents of Dukhoborism, by the will of fate, remained in Georgia, now separated from Russia. This community, in which the foundations of the Dukhobor teachings and unique cultural traditions are carefully preserved, can be considered listed in the Red Book of Humanity.
