In this video, we explore Estancias del Lago, one of the most advanced and sustainable dairy farms in Latin America, located in Durazno, Uruguay. Join me as we discover how technology and the circular economy are transforming dairy production. • ????Location: Durazno, Uruguay. • ???? Calvings: 2,500 calvings per month • ???? Capacity: We milk 13,650 cows distributed in 6 milking parlors, with an average production of 41 liters per cow. • ???? Milking System: 3 rotary units of 80 units, one double 24 and two rotary units of 50 units. • ???? Feed: Diet composed of 50% forage (corn silage, wheat, grass, clover and alfalfa hay) and 50% concentrate. • ???? Annual Corn Silage Production: Approximately 180,000 tons. • ♻️ Sustainability: Use of biodigesters to convert effluents into biogas, which is used in the milk powder plant and in the farm's heating systems. • ???? Circular Economy: Reuse of sand in bedding, fertigation with effluents and wastewater treatment. • ????‍♂️????‍♀️ Employees: 550 direct employees plus 50 additional people depending on the season. Additionally, at Estancias del Lago, we produce our own feed for the cattle, ensuring maximum quality and efficiency. The herd’s genetics are 100% Holstein, with a focus on health and solids production, which allows us to export high-quality powdered milk to various parts of the world.
