About :

August 21, 2021 The Kaiserjäger equipped path is a beautiful route that follows the paths of the Austro-Hungarian soldiers between the Valparola Pass, the Austrian ledge of Lagazuoi and the peak of Lagazuoi. It starts from the Valparola Pass and, following the Austro-Hungarian trenches, reaches the Vonbank post, the barrier line that the Italians tried in vain to overcome. The Vonbank post can also be reached from the path that starts from the Falzarego Pass and then continues to the left crossing the Lagazuoi scree, scree created by the 4 Austrian mines during the War. From the Vonbank post, the path climbs with wide zigzags to reach the suspension bridge and then the ledge. After the bridge there is an exposed passage where it is useful to have a cord and a via ferrata harness. On the ledge you can visit the restored trenches and tunnels. The trail continues to the summit of Lagazuoi at 2,778 metres above sea level. The Kaiserjäger Trail is an extremely panoramic route, with a view that gradually opens up onto all of the Dolomites. Length 3,410 metres from the Valparola Pass to the Lagazuoi refuge, difference in altitude 673 metres from the Falzarego Pass. DATA SHEET Starting point Falzarego Pass, Lagazuoi cable car parking (SS 48) Arrival point Falzarego Pass, Lagazuoi cable car parking (SS 48) Travel time 3.45 h Total difference in altitude 700 m Via ferrata difference in altitude 280 m Minimum altitude 2,107 m Maximum altitude 2,778 m Access Falzarego Pass, reachable from Cortina d'Ampezzo, Arabba or Alta Badia with your own vehicle or public bus. Approach Departure directly in front of the valley station of the Lagazuoi cable car. For about a hundred meters follow path 402, then take the new path on the left that climbs westward on the mine scree. Climb up on the left of the mountain in the no man's land between the Austro-Hungarian trenches to the west and the Italian ones to the east. After the Austro-Hungarian trenches continue on the zigzag path, cross the suspension bridge, and reach the start of the equipped wall. Descent The descent can be done by cable car, along the Sentiero del Fronte (CAI path no. 401-402) or along the path that crosses the Anticima tunnel. The latter starts next to the cable car and crosses the Austrian trenches to then lead to the entrance of the Italian tunnel that runs through the interior of the Anticima. You emerge in the valley, at the Malvezzi post, and from here you return to the Falzarego pass on path 402. Cima Piccolo Lagazuoi Southwest and south exposure
