In July of last year, 36-year-old YouTuber Leandro Batista embarked on a trip that he believed would confirm a belief that he had been zealously promoting on his channel and social media, even though it went against scientific consensus: flat-eartherism. But he returned from that trip convinced of the exact opposite and with the new challenge of persuading his followers of the same. It all started when Leandro asked his followers for help paying for the trip and headed to Norway on a self-declared mission to explore the world “based on a flat-earth model.” He didn’t believe in research, photos or videos that prove that the planet is round and wanted to collect his own evidence to prove otherwise.
