The Emmaus Abbey or Na Slovanech monastery is a historically very important place dating back to the Gothic period of Charles IV, but in February 1945 it was hit by bombing and had to be reconstructed. This meant a big change and brought about an ingenious meeting between the old and the new twenty years later - the architect František Maria Černý is the author of the modern and sophisticated and so characteristic of Emmaus.
