An uninvited guest has sneaked into Jens and Ines Halling's farm: 14-year-old Franzi Hansen has escaped, but won't say where she comes from. She is ill, and a worried Jens insists on taking the girl to Dr. Bergmann. It soon turns out that the police are looking for her because she has run away from a home. During her escape, she has contracted Hanta viruses. Ines and Jens would take her in for the time being, although Ines is not so keen on the cheeky brat. Since the disease is notifiable, Jan is in a pickle, but at Jens' request, he gives Franzi some time at the Hallings'. Jens is very sympathetic to the fact that Franzi is good with animals. But unfortunately she has a small mishap with serious consequences. Hinnerk and Gertrud finally want to visit Peter in Frankfurt, but the train journey is very expensive. Independently of each other, they both start taking driving lessons “secretly”: Hinnerk with Jan and Gertrud with Anja. However, they don’t seem to be really cut out for driving a vehicle. But then in the morning, Paul, the doctor’s horse, is standing in their garden: the two don’t hesitate for a moment and start chasing him in Anja’s car. Jan is surprised that his doctor’s assistant Anja hasn’t come to work. He learns from Gertrud that Anja is ill – and lives with them. Jan feels very sorry when Anja tells him that Erik has cheated on her, but she isn’t really ill. What Jan doesn’t suspect is that Erik has cheated on her with Olivia of all people. The mood in the Bergmann household and in the practice is pretty badly affected by the conflict. Maren is also annoyed because Olivia is no longer doing her job as an au pair. When Anja finally confesses to Olivia that her feelings for her have changed, the Brazilian decides to go back home. Who will look after Louisa now?
