On Tuesday 17 September it is Prinsjesdag again. The King will read the Speech from the Throne, which contains the government's plans for the coming year. These cabinet plans will then be discussed in the House of Representatives during the General Political Considerations (ABP). In the first episode of season 4, we will explain everything about this debate and what you can do with it as a citizen. And, what is so different this time? This time there is a new prime minister and a brand-new cabinet. The approach is also different: with this ABP, Prime Minister Dick Schoof's team will not only present the budget, but also its plans and intentions as a whole. In this episode of Het Kamergesprek, presenter Kemal Rijken will talk to chief explanator John Bijl about the structure of the APB. Martine Wolzak of the FD will look at the budget and the discussion about it for us. We will also have former Minister of Finance Onno Ruding among us. We will discuss with him how to make and prepare a budget statement as a minister, and what the differences are between his period (1982-1989) and now. Finally, communication expert Sarah Gagestein will explain everything about frames and other forms of communication in the debate.
